How to read the path of daylight before choosing a room.
Visit once in the morning and again late in the day. A room that feels calm at breakfast may collect heat by midafternoon. Note where daylight reaches a reading chair, a kitchen counter or a desk.
Deep overhangs and operable screens can give a room more than one character. During a viewing, try the shutters, open a door and sit where the dining table would go. Small observations tell you how the space will feel in use.
